Free Telecom Services, No Prior Permit for Private Helicopters in Flood-Hit Areas
The government has made Nepal Telecom’s phone and data services free in four flood-affected districts and eased helicopter approval requirements to speed up rescue and relief operations.
The government has decided to provide free Nepal Telecom voice and data services in four flood-affected districts to facilitate communication, rescue and relief efforts. The Ministry of Finance said the measure aims to ensure uninterrupted communication and better coordination during the disaster. Meanwhile, private helicopters involved in rescue, relief and search operations will not be required to obtain prior permission, allowing rescue teams and relief materials to reach affected areas more quickly. The government has prioritized both communication services and air rescue operations to accelerate post-flood response efforts.
