Mahuli Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha has firmly established itself as a leading player in Nepal’s microfinance sector by delivering exceptional financial results that highlight its strategic vision and operational strength. The company’s fourth-quarter report for fiscal year 2081/82 showcases a remarkable turnaround, significantly elevating its market standing and appeal to investors.

At the heart of this success is a net profit of NPR 114.5 million, which marks an extraordinary 255.8% increase compared to NPR 32.1 million in the previous year. This impressive growth signals not just steady progress but a substantial enhancement in the company’s ability to generate profit. Distributable profit stood at NPR 124.1 million, with a strong dividend-paying capacity of 33.57%, reflecting the institution’s commitment to delivering value to its shareholders.

Operational efficiency has been a key driver, as the company’s operating profit surged to NPR 160.36 million, an increase of 232.33% from NPR 49.2 million the previous year. This leap underscores improved business practices, effective cost control, and a focus on high-return activities. Meanwhile, interest income expanded by 43.03%, reaching NPR 367.2 million, indicating successful diversification and stronger lending performance.

Mahuli Laghubitta’s financial foundation remains solid, with paid-up capital at NPR 369.9 million. Retained earnings and reserves grew significantly to NPR 124.1 million and NPR 298.9 million, respectively, offering a strong buffer for future growth and stability. The institution’s loan portfolio also expanded, with borrowings of NPR 2.91 billion supporting loan disbursements totaling NPR 5.25 billion, demonstrating its ongoing commitment to financial inclusion.

However, the non-performing loan (NPL) ratio rose from 3.94% to 4.80%, highlighting the need for vigilant risk management and robust borrower assessments to sustain portfolio quality. On the valuation front, earnings per share (EPS) climbed sharply to NPR 30.96 from NPR 9.98, while the price-to-earnings (P/E) ratio stood at 41.86, accompanied by a net asset value per share of NPR 214.39. These figures reflect growing investor confidence and suggest promising prospects for continued growth and impact in Nepal’s financial sector.
