Protective Micro Insurance Company has emerged as a key player in Nepal’s microinsurance revolution, showcasing stunning financial results for the fiscal year 2081/82. Its net profit skyrocketed by 79.57%, reaching NPR 1.275 million, up from NPR 710,000 the previous year. This dramatic leap was driven by improved efficiency, smart customer targeting, and sound risk management. It signals not just growth, but a transformation in how microinsurance can thrive in challenging and underserved markets.

One of the most striking highlights was the company’s premium collection performance. Net premium income rose steadily to NPR 56.7 million from NPR 47.3 million, but the real shockwave came from total premium collection, soaring by an astounding 571%. Within just one year, it jumped from NPR 27.8 million to an unprecedented NPR 186.9 million. This massive gain shows that Protective Micro Insurance has successfully reached deep into neglected markets, building trust and offering meaningful coverage to people who had long been excluded from formal insurance.

Behind this bold growth is a strong financial foundation. With a paid-up capital of NPR 525 million, the company is well-positioned to handle rising demand and fulfill its commitments. Strategic reserve allocations, including NPR 2.31 million in a disaster fund and NPR 2.319 million in a special reserve, reflect the company’s careful planning and readiness to manage risks. Retained earnings and other equity components further show the company’s commitment to sustainable growth.

Protective Micro Insurance is more than just a successful business, it’s a driver of social change. By reaching communities traditionally left out of insurance systems, the company is playing a vital role in advancing financial inclusion in Nepal. Its achievements are a blueprint for how specialized insurers can grow rapidly while remaining socially responsible. As it continues to expand, Protective Micro Insurance stands as a model for innovation, resilience, and inclusive economic progress.
