The World Bank Group Launches New Seven-Year Partnership Framework to Support Nepal’s Growth and Resilience
The World Bank Group has launched a new seven-year partnership framework with Nepal, investing $2.7 billion to create jobs, improve connectivity, and promote a green, resilient economy from 2025 to 2031. The plan focuses on boosting economic growth, supporting key sectors like tourism and digital infrastructure, and enhancing Nepal’s disaster resilience.

The World Bank Group has introduced a new seven-year Country Partnership Framework (CPF) for Nepal, covering the period from 2025 to 2031. This plan outlines a focused approach to help Nepal achieve its development goals by investing approximately $2.7 billion through various programs and projects.
The CPF centers around three main goals: creating more quality jobs, improving connectivity among communities, and promoting a green and resilient economy. These priorities reflect Nepal’s pressing need to boost economic opportunities while addressing environmental and social challenges.
To deliver on these goals, the World Bank will use a combination of funding methods, including policy support, investment projects, advisory services, and technical assistance. The Bank also plans to work closely with other development partners, including the Asian Development Bank and private sector actors, to identify key reforms and ensure coordinated efforts.
One of the biggest challenges highlighted in the framework is fostering economic growth that can generate meaningful employment, while also building resilience to natural disasters, which Nepal frequently faces. To address these, the World Bank aims to streamline project implementation and adopt phased, targeted approaches for better impact.
In the short term, the focus will be on improving the business environment, supporting tourism growth, enhancing digital infrastructure, and encouraging integrated urban development all vital areas expected to drive Nepal’s economic progress.
This partnership represents an important milestone in Nepal’s development journey, aiming to create sustainable, inclusive growth that benefits all Nepalese people.
