Stock Market Sees Modest Recovery with Sectoral Gains and Mixed Trading Activity

After a week of continuous decline, Nepal’s stock market witnessed a rebound on Monday, with the NEPSE index rising by 19.30 points to close at 2,628.36 points. However, the positive movement came alongside a decline in overall trading volume.
Out of the total traded value, shares worth Rs 7.35 billion and Rs 8.8 billion were exchanged in two separate reporting periods (or sessions), indicating fluctuating investor participation.
Sector-wise, most indices moved upward except for the hotels and tourism sector. The development bank index recorded the highest growth, rising by 1.88%, while the banking group index gained 1.17%.
Despite the overall uptrend in the index, share prices of 60 companies declined during the session. Notably, Win Nepal Microfinance Financial Institution entered the negative circuit, signaling strong selling pressure.
In terms of trading volume, Radhi Vidyut Company Limited led the market with shares worth Rs 597.6 million traded, followed by Nepal Re-Insurance Company Limited, with transactions totaling Rs 510 million.
This partial recovery brings some optimism after a prolonged bearish phase, though subdued trading activity suggests that investor sentiment remains cautious.
