In a pioneering initiative that merges infrastructure development with social equity, Jhapa Energy Limited has officially launched its Initial Public Offering (IPO) today. The company’s transformative approach places project-affected local communities and Nepali migrant workers at the center of its capital participation model. A total of 380,190 ordinary shares are being issued at a face value of Rs. 100 per share, raising Rs. 38,019,000, which accounts for 10% of its total issued capital of Rs. 38.01 crore. This marks a significant milestone in Nepal’s energy and financial markets, redefining how public ownership can be integrated into major infrastructure ventures.

The IPO prioritizes inclusivity and local empowerment. 190,095 shares are reserved for residents within the 100-meter directly affected zone of Ward No. 4, Shivasatakshi Municipality, while an equal number of shares are allocated to other residents of the same ward, ensuring broad community representation. Additionally, 57,029 shares are set aside for Nepali migrant workers with valid labor permits. These applicants can invest through the ASBA system at any C-ASBA member bank or financial institution, facilitating easy access for overseas investors.

The application process begins today, Shrawan 14, with timelines tailored for each group. Local residents may apply through Bhadra 12, while migrant workers have until Shrawan 28 to submit applications. Investors can apply for a minimum of 10 shares and a maximum of 5,000 shares. Himalayan Capital Limited is the issue manager, with applications accepted at Himalayan Bank branches in Duhabi, Damak, and Surunga, or at the project site. A minimal Rs. 2 application fee ensures accessibility for all. The company’s [ICRA NP Issuer Rating] B-, assigned by ICRA Nepal, reflects a moderate risk level, underscoring Jhapa Energy’s commitment to transparency and informed investing.
