In a move that underscores its commitment to dynamic and customer-centric banking, NIC Asia Bank has unveiled its latest offering, ‘NIC Asia Athot Loan Against Share’, a competitively structured credit scheme aimed at investors and stakeholders in Nepal’s capital market.
This newly introduced facility allows clients to pledge ordinary shares listed on the Nepal Stock Exchange, including those of banks, financial institutions, insurance companies, and other eligible companies, as collateral for substantial loans. The bank has introduced an attractive interest rate of base rate plus 1%, ensuring borrowers gain access to credit at a highly competitive rate within the market.
What sets this scheme apart is its balanced yet ambitious approach to collateral valuation and credit limit. Borrowers can access up to 70% of the average market value of shares over the last 180 days, or the most recent trading price, whichever is lower, thus ensuring both risk management and investor protection. Under this plan, loan amounts range from a minimum of NPR 50 lakhs to a maximum of NPR 15 crores, providing flexibility for both retail and institutional investors.
By launching the Athot Loan scheme, NIC Asia Bank demonstrates strategic foresight in addressing the liquidity needs of capital market participants while strengthening the role of share investment in Nepal’s financial ecosystem. This initiative not only aligns with the growing demand for financing in an evolving economy but also reflects the bank’s recognition of the capital market as a cornerstone of economic vitality.
