Swabhimaan Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited has delivered one of the most remarkable financial turnarounds in Nepal’s microfinance sector, posting an extraordinary 819.04% surge in net profit. Net earnings jumped from Rs. 7.872 million in the same period last year to Rs. 72.3 million in the fourth quarter of the last fiscal year. This impressive leap reflects not only strong business performance but also a fundamental shift in the institution’s operational strategy and market positioning. The company’s revenue base expanded significantly, with net interest income rising by 86.43% to Rs. 205 million. This growth highlights Swabhimaan’s ability to effectively manage its lending portfolio while optimizing returns. Net operating income reached Rs. 246.8 million, and operating profit stood at Rs. 109.4 million, underscoring strong cost control and operational efficiency.
Swabhimaan’s financial position has been further reinforced, with retained earnings climbing from Rs. 20.6 million to Rs. 60.3 million and its reserve fund increasing from Rs. 48.5 million to Rs. 73.5 million. This substantial capital build-up enhances the company’s resilience, enabling it to weather market volatility and pursue future growth opportunities. One of the most notable achievements of the year was the reduction of the non-performing loan (NPL) ratio from 7.35% to 4.20%. This improvement reflects robust credit risk management and better loan recovery practices. Additionally, a reversal of impairment charges worth Rs. 11 million contributed to stronger profitability, further cementing Swabhimaan’s reputation for prudent financial stewardship.
For shareholders, the results have been particularly rewarding. Distributable earnings per share (EPS) stood at Rs. 39.32, while overall EPS reached Rs. 47.15. Net worth per share rose to Rs. 187.27, and total asset value per share reached Rs. 2,034.90. A P/E ratio of 38.68 times reflects strong investor confidence in the company’s growth trajectory, while a liquidity ratio of 11.81% ensures financial flexibility. Swabhimaan Laghubitta’s exceptional performance not only showcases its operational excellence but also reaffirms the transformative potential of Nepal’s microfinance sector. By combining sustainable growth, improved asset quality, and a commitment to financial inclusion, the institution has set a benchmark for others to follow in the quest to expand access to finance and empower communities across the country.
