Nepal’s stock market delivered another spirited performance today, with the NEPSE index edging up by 2.35 points to close at 2,836. The session reflected a market balancing optimism with caution, as 112 companies recorded gains while 138 saw declines. In total, 320 companies were traded, moving 21,657,706 shares and generating an impressive turnover of over NPR 7.63 billion, an indicator of robust investor participation despite mixed sentiment.
Turnover was dominated by four major players. Ngadi Group Power led the charge with NPR 294.5 million in trades, followed closely by Himalayan Reinsurance at NPR 280.2 million. Shivam Cement secured NPR 241.9 million, while NRN Infrastructure & Development rounded out the top four with NPR 238.4 million. These high-value transactions underscored the day’s active liquidity and the strategic movements of capital in key sectors.
The microfinance sector emerged as the standout performer. Vin Nepal Microfinance topped the gainers’ list with a full 10% surge, while Mahuli Microfinance and Trade Tower Company both rose 9.99%. Samaj Microfinance also impressed, climbing 7.73%. In contrast, Three Star Hydropower endured the day’s steepest decline, slipping 3.78%.
Today’s trading narrative was one of balance and discernment. While microfinance stocks captured investor confidence with strong upward moves, selective profit-taking in hydropower signaled strategic decision-making rather than herd-driven shifts. The market’s modest rise, coupled with substantial turnover, reflects a dynamic environment where opportunity and caution coexist, shaping the evolving story of Nepal’s capital market.
