Unnati Sahakarya Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited has delivered one of the most remarkable financial turnarounds in Nepal’s microfinance sector, transitioning from a loss of NPR 94.59 lakh last year to a net profit of NPR 5.24 crore in fiscal year 2080/81. This significant reversal highlights the institution's strong leadership, improved cost controls, and strategic focus on operational efficiency. The turnaround is more than a numerical win, it reflects a deeper transformation in business strategy, portfolio quality, and institutional governance.
The company reported a 52% rise in net interest income, reaching NPR 27.04 crore, driven by improved lending practices and market expansion. Operating profit stood at NPR 7.49 crore, backed by total operating income of NPR 29.45 crore. This performance shows how Unnati has refined its core business operations and optimized resource allocation to boost profitability. Meanwhile, its total deposits climbed to NPR 1.20 billion and loans extended to NPR 3.76 billion, signaling growing public trust and a solid market presence.
While the institution’s non-performing loan ratio increased to 4.73% from 3.03%, Unnati responded proactively by setting aside higher impairment provisions. Its earnings per share reached NPR 21.24, and its net worth per share stood at NPR 148.21, strong indicators of shareholder value and financial strength. This comeback not only secures Unnati Sahakarya’s place as a top performer in Nepal’s microfinance ecosystem but also sets a new benchmark for sustainable growth, risk management, and rural economic development.
