Asha Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited has delivered a record-breaking financial performance in FY 2081/82, posting a net profit of NPR 209.2 million, 248.28% increase compared to the previous year. This extraordinary leap not only sets a new benchmark in Nepal’s microfinance landscape but also highlights the institution’s ability to blend profitability with its core mission of financial inclusion. By transforming modest operations into a results-driven financial enterprise, Asha Laghubitta has become a standout example of how vision and execution can fuel sector leadership.

At the core of this success is operational excellence. The company’s operating profit surged by 255.36%, jumping from NPR 84.8 million to NPR 301.6 million. This performance reflects strong cost control, efficient resource utilization, and scalable systems that allowed Asha Laghubitta to handle a growing customer base while maintaining service quality. Complementing this was a 67.47% rise in interest income, driven by strategic loan disbursement and portfolio diversification, which contributed significantly to revenue generation while supporting underserved communities.

From a shareholder perspective, the institution’s financial strength translates directly into potential wealth creation. With a distributable profit of NPR 163.6 million, Asha Laghubitta has the capacity to offer up to 22.32% in dividends, showcasing its commitment to rewarding investor confidence. Furthermore, a robust capital base of NPR 733 million in paid-up capital, along with strong reserves and retained earnings, provides the company with a stable foundation for future expansion and innovation.

Perhaps most impressively, Asha Laghubitta has proven that rapid growth need not compromise asset quality. Despite expanding its credit portfolio to over NPR 10.44 billion, the company successfully reduced its non-performing loan (NPL) ratio from 4.81% to 4.48%, a clear indicator of prudent risk management. The leap in earnings per share (EPS) to NPR 28.55 and the strong market valuation of NPR 172.90 per share solidify the company’s status as both a socially impactful and financially attractive institution. In doing so, Asha Laghubitta has redefined what microfinance can achieve in Nepal.
