Nepal’s listed cement sector delivered mixed performance during Q3 FY 2082/83, with larger integrated players continuing to strengthen their market positioning despite weak construction demand and pricing pressure across the industry. Sarbottam Cement emerged as the revenue leader with sales of Rs. 700.79 crores, while Shivam Cement maintained the strongest strategic positioning through its association with Hongshi Shivam Cement, whose production capacity exceeds 12,000 MTPD. Meanwhile, Sarbottam Cement is currently operating at the full capacity of its recently acquired Jagadamba cement businesses, taking total operational capacity to around 6,600 MTPD.
In terms of profitability, Sarbottam Cement posted the highest net profit at Rs. 90.58 crores, followed by Shivam Cement at Rs. 61.91 crores. Sonapur Minerals reported one of the strongest operational recoveries in the sector with net profit improving from a loss of Rs. 7.59 crores to profit of Rs. 22.61 crores. Ghorahi Cement, despite improvement in losses, continued to remain under pressure due to elevated leverage and financing costs.
