    Foreign Tourist Arrivals in Nepal Rise 2.3% in July, China Sees Strongest Growth

    Nepal welcomed 71,775 foreign tourists in July 2026, marking a 2.3% year-on-year increase, with visitor numbers from China surpassing pre-pandemic levels.

    Nepal recorded 71,775 foreign tourist arrivals in July 2026, a 2.3% increase compared to 70,193 arrivals during the same month last year, according to the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB). India remained Nepal's largest source market with 23,490 visitors, accounting for 32.73% of total arrivals. China posted the strongest growth, with 11,099 Chinese tourists visiting Nepal in July—up 61.09% from a year earlier and 8.65% higher than pre-pandemic levels recorded in July 2019. The United States ranked third with 7,754 visitors, followed by Bangladesh (4,179), the United Kingdom (3,773) and Australia (2,428). Regionally, SAARC countries contributed the largest share of visitors at 29,755 arrivals (41.46%), although the figure was 11.93% lower than the previous year. Tourist arrivals from other Asian countries climbed 33.05% to 17,424, driven by strong demand from China, South Korea, Malaysia and Japan. Europe accounted for 9,279 visitors, while 8,824 tourists arrived from the Americas, 2,607 from Oceania, 736 from the Middle East and 324 from Africa, reflecting continued recovery in Nepal's tourism sector.
