Barahi Hydropower: Small Capital, Big Vision for Nepal’s Energy Sector.

Barahi Hydropower Public Limited (BHPL) is pivoting from its stable 1.5 MW Theule Khola Project toward a more ambitious 3.45 MW expansion. While the company leverages six years of operational expertise, its recent Q2 report shows a 32.5% dip in net profit due to rising amortization costs, despite steady electricity sales.

Barahi Hydropower: Small Capital, Big Vision for Nepal’s Energy Sector.

Barahi Hydropower Public Limited (BHPL) is currently undergoing a strategic transition from a stable revenue-generating entity to an expansion-oriented enterprise. Having successfully maintained commercial operations of the 1.5 MW Theule Khola Project since 2075 BS, the company is leveraging its six-year technical expertise to develop a new 3.45 MW project. Financially, the second quarter of the current fiscal year reflects a consolidated revenue of Rs. 2.06 crores from electricity sales. However, net profit experienced a 32.5% year-on-year contraction, settling at Rs. 23.29 lakhs, primarily attributed to an increase in amortization expenses and operational overheads. Despite a negative reserve position of Rs. 12.21 crores, the company maintains a lean operational model, while the recent expiration of the promoter share lock-in period presents a new variable for secondary market liquidity.
