    Nabil Bank Tops Profit Chart as Commercial Banks Earn Rs. 64.56 Billion

    Nepal Rastra Bank's latest financial performance report shows commercial banks earned a combined Rs. 64.56 billion in net profit by the end of Jestha, with Nabil Bank leading the sector, while Garima Bikas Bank topped development banks.

    Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) has published the financial performance report of commercial and development banks for the first eleven months of fiscal year 2082/83, ending in Jestha. According to the report, Nepal's 20 commercial banks posted a combined net profit of Rs. 64.56 billion during the review period. Nabil Bank Limited emerged as the most profitable commercial bank with a net profit of Rs. 8.49 billion, followed by Global IME Bank Limited with Rs. 5.97 billion and Kumari Bank Limited with Rs. 4.70 billion. Everest Bank and Nepal Investment Mega Bank also ranked among the sector's top performers, while NIC Asia Bank reported the lowest profit at Rs. 507 million. The development banking sector recorded a combined net profit of Rs. 7.32 billion despite losses reported by several institutions. Garima Bikas Bank led the sector with a net profit of Rs. 1.35 billion, followed by Muktinath Bikas Bank at Rs. 1.26 billion and Shine Resunga Development Bank at Rs. 1.01 billion. Meanwhile, Salapa Bikas Bank, Sindhu Bikas Bank, Narayani Development Bank, and Karnali Development Bank posted net losses during the review period, with Karnali Development Bank reporting the largest loss of Rs. 245.9 million among development banks.
