RSP Reviews Conduct of Ministers and MPs, Seeks More Responsible Parliamentary Presentation

The ruling Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has conducted an internal review of the working style and parliamentary conduct of its ministers and lawmakers. The discussion was held on Wednesday at the party’s parliamentary party office in Singha Durbar in the presence of party chair Rabi Lamichhane. During the meeting, Lamichhane reportedly expressed particular concern over the language, tone, and conduct adopted by ministers and lawmakers while addressing parliamentary proceedings. The discussion comes amid growing criticism over ministers responding to lawmakers in a warning or confrontational tone during question-and-answer sessions, while some lawmakers have also been accused of adopting harsh or undignified behavior when their demands remain unaddressed. The meeting also focused on ways to raise public issues more effectively while maintaining parliamentary decorum. Lamichhane emphasized the need to make the party’s presentation in Parliament more responsible, balanced, and restrained. The RSP has initiated the internal review in response to criticism that some of its lawmakers have struggled to maintain stylistic balance while expressing dissatisfaction in parliamentary committees and during House proceedings. The party is now seeking to improve the overall quality and discipline of its parliamentary engagement.
