Leading the Charge: How NEA’s Executive Director is Grooming the Future of Power

Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has launched a strategic 'Special Brainstorming' initiative designed to modernize the nation's aging power infrastructure. Under the leadership of Executive Director Hitendra Dev Shakya, the authority brought together young, tech-savvy engineers to address the limitations of traditional work styles and outdated machinery. In a unique move, participants were given no prior information about the topics, allowing the leadership to gauge their immediate problem-solving skills and grasp of global technological trends. The session focused on three critical pillars for the NEA’s evolution: Efficient Service through digital administration, Precise Management using data automation to eliminate system leakage, and Reliable Transmission via the implementation of "Smart Grid" technology. Executive Director Shakya emphasized that putting the new generation of engineers in the "driving seat" is essential to solve persistent issues like tripping and voltage fluctuations. The NEA is now preparing to translate these innovative discussions into a concrete action plan to align Nepal’s energy sector with global standards.
