Finance Minister’s Secretariat Urges Investors to Ignore Rumors, Says Stock Market Fundamentals Improving

The Secretariat of Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Wagle has urged stock market investors not to be swayed by rumors or panic over short-term market fluctuations, stating that the government is actively working to strengthen Nepal's capital market. In a statement issued on Friday, the Secretariat acknowledged investors' frustration over the market's slower-than-expected recovery following the formation of the new government but maintained that key market fundamentals are improving, citing ample liquidity, declining bank interest rates, and policy measures aimed at boosting investment and economic activity. The Secretariat also warned that certain groups were attempting to manipulate the market by spreading false information and creating unnecessary fear among retail investors, comparing such practices to the infamous Harshad Mehta-style market manipulation. It said regulatory authorities are closely monitoring such activities and urged investors not to rely on unverified claims circulating on platforms such as Clubhouse, WhatsApp, Messenger, or from self-proclaimed market experts. Instead, investors were advised to make informed decisions based on thorough research and information from official sources. Reaffirming the government's commitment to transparent leadership and capital market reforms, the Secretariat expressed confidence that ongoing policy initiatives would benefit investors and wished them a prosperous new fiscal year.
