The BP Highway has reopened through a temporary diversion after being blocked for three days by floods, though officials warn of continued risks due to ongoing rainfall.

Traffic Finally Resumes on BP Highway After 3-Day Shutdown, But Authorities Warn of Imminent Danger

Vehicular traffic on the BP Highway resumed on Thursday morning after a three-day closure caused by flooding. The highway had been impassable since Monday when the Roshi Stream overflowed following heavy rainfall, damaging several sections of the road. Local authorities managed to restore access by constructing a temporary diversion to bypass the affected areas. Despite the reopening, the District Police Office in Kavrepalanchowk has urged travelers to avoid the route unless necessary, citing the risk of further disruptions from persistent rain. The highway remains vulnerable after significant damage last year, where landslides and floods destroyed 18 kilometers of the road between Chaukidanga and Nepalthok. While the diversion allows for current travel, permanent reconstruction efforts are still in progress.
