Q4 Update: Panchthar Power Swings to Rs. 8.51 Crore Profit

Panchthar Power Company Limited (PPCL) has published its unaudited fourth-quarter financial results for FY 2082/83, showing a significant improvement in its financial performance following the resumption of electricity generation. The company generated Rs. 37.78 crore in electricity sales revenue by the end of the fiscal year, compared to just Rs. 8.90 crore in the previous fiscal year. The sharp increase came after the company resumed power generation on Chaitra 16, 2081, following repairs to its project infrastructure that had been damaged by successive floods, including damage to the powerhouse, civil structures and electromechanical equipment. With electricity generation restored, the company turned profitable, reporting a net profit of Rs. 8.51 crore in FY 2082/83 compared to a net loss of Rs. 6.17 crore in the previous fiscal year. The company reported total profit of Rs. 37.78 crore, while financial expenses stood at Rs. 13.64 crore during the review period. Its earnings per share (EPS) stood at Rs. 8.85, while net worth per share was Rs. 98.65. The company’s price-to-earnings (P/E) ratio stood at 37.30 times. Panchthar Power has a paid-up capital of Rs. 96.25 crore, while its reserve and surplus remained negative at Rs. 1.29 crore. The latest Q4 results indicate a significant financial recovery as the company moves back into regular power generation after flood-related disruptions.
