Race for Top Investment Spot Reopens: Government Seeks New CEO for Investment Board Nepal

The government of Nepal has officially restarted the selection process for the position of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Investment Board Nepal (IBN), the nation's premier agency tasked with mobilizing large-scale investments. The secretariat of the CEO recommendation committee, operating under the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, issued a public vacancy notice inviting qualified Nepali citizens to apply through an open competitive process. Executed in strict accordance with the Public-Private Partnership and Investment Act, 2019, the recruitment criteria mandates that prospective candidates possess at least a master's degree in economics, management, commerce, law, engineering, or development studies. Furthermore, applicants must demonstrate a minimum of 10 years of senior managerial experience in fields such as project development, investment promotion, public-private partnerships, banking, financial services, development administration, or industrial management. The age bracket for eligible candidates has been designated between 35 and 65 years. In a move to enforce strict national compliance, individuals holding foreign permanent residency (PR) status are required to submit documented proof that they renounced such status at least three months prior to application submission. Alongside standard credentials verifying academic milestones, professional experience, and citizenship, candidates are obligated to submit a comprehensive business plan detailing Nepal's investment landscape, economic potential, and targeted promotional strategies. The committee has established a 15-day application window from the date of the notice's publication, during which submissions can be formally registered within standard office hours.
