Government Introduces Standard Application Format for Public Services

The Government of Nepal has approved a new guideline to standardize application forms used across government offices, simplify public service delivery, and gradually transition traditional paper-based applications into digital formats.

Government Introduces Standard Application Format for Public Services

The Government of Nepal has taken a significant step toward making public services more uniform, accessible and technology-friendly by introducing a standardized application format for government offices across the country. The Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers has approved the ‘Guideline on Application Format Used in Government Offices and Its Implementation, 2083’ and directed all government agencies to ensure its effective implementation. With the new guideline in place, citizens will no longer have to deal with different application formats and procedures at different government offices, as a standardized application format will be adopted nationwide. The initiative aims to make public service delivery simpler, easier, more efficient and citizen-friendly while gradually enabling applications to be submitted through digital platforms. The government expects the digital availability of application forms to pave the way for citizens to access government services more conveniently through online platforms and mobile applications, strengthening the vision of a Digital Nepal. The new system is also expected to reduce confusion and inconvenience for service seekers and discourage unauthorized intermediaries who charge citizens for filling out or facilitating government applications. Responsibility for the effective implementation of the guideline has been assigned primarily to the respective heads of government offices.
