NEPSE Update: Investors Can Now Place Share Orders Beyond Regular Trading Hours

NEPSE has launched the After Market Order (AMO) facility on its TMS, allowing investors to place share buy and sell orders outside the regular 11 AM–3 PM trading window.

NEPSE Update: Investors Can Now Place Share Orders Beyond Regular Trading Hours

The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) has introduced the After Market Order (AMO) facility on its online trading system (TMS) from Thursday, allowing investors to place share orders outside regular market hours. Under the new system, investors can place limit orders within a range of up to 15% above or below the previous day's closing price. Orders falling within a 3% range of the previous closing price will be automatically forwarded to the exchange during the pre-open session, while orders outside that range will be processed once the price matches during regular trading hours. The system will also verify the buyer's available collateral and the seller's share holdings before processing orders. However, market orders are not available under the AMO facility, and each order remains valid for only one trading day before being automatically cancelled if it is not executed. Investors can modify or cancel an order only while it remains pending before being forwarded to the exchange; once submitted, they must return to the order book to make changes. The facility is expected to be especially useful for investors who are occupied during regular trading hours. Notably, Nasa Securities (Broker No. 58) had already introduced a similar facility for its clients on April 10, meaning NEPSE took an additional 108 days to bring the feature to its own TMS platform.
