LPG Shortage Triggers Long Queues in Pokhara, Administration Steps Up Market Monitoring

As LPG shortages continue across Nepal, consumers in Pokhara have been forced to queue for hours with empty cylinders, prompting authorities to intensify market inspections and assure the public that supplies will normalize within days.

LPG Shortage Triggers Long Queues in Pokhara, Administration Steps Up Market Monitoring

An LPG shortage across Nepal has disrupted supplies in Pokhara, forcing consumers to wait in long queues at gas depots with empty cylinders. In response, the Kaski District Administration Office has intensified market monitoring and conducted inspections at major gas distributors, including Charisma Emporium. Assistant Chief District Officer Chitrangat Baral said the temporary shortage was caused by insufficient deliveries from suppliers outside the region but assured that there is no need for panic buying, adding that supplies are expected to normalize within the next two to three days. While the administration has warned of strict action against artificial shortages and black marketing, gas distributors attributed the crisis to excessive stockpiling by consumers driven by fears of future shortages. Authorities said they are continuing to coordinate with suppliers and distributors to ensure a regular supply of LPG.
