Nepal Parliament Bans MPs from Share Trading During House Sessions

Speaker Dol Prasad Aryal has announced a new rule prohibiting Members of Parliament (MPs) from engaging in share trading while the House is in session, as part of efforts to reinforce parliamentary discipline and ensure lawmakers remain focused on legislative proceedings. The directive was issued during a meeting of the Business Advisory Committee, following reports that some MPs had been using laptops and mobile devices to conduct stock market transactions during parliamentary sittings. Under the new directive, lawmakers are expected to devote their full attention to House proceedings and refrain from any activities considered inconsistent with parliamentary decorum. In addition to the ban on share trading, Speaker Aryal instructed MPs to comply with the official dress code, wear their parliamentary identification logo, and avoid wearing black sunglasses inside the House unless medically prescribed. The measures come amid growing concerns over lawmakers' conduct inside the chamber and are intended to uphold the dignity, professionalism, and credibility of Parliament while ensuring more disciplined and effective legislative proceedings.
