Modernizing Public Transport: Industry Leaders Call for Better Passenger Care and Professionalism

Leading transport entrepreneurs have emphasized that implementing courteous passenger service and providing hygienic food options are critical steps required to elevate the quality of Nepal’s public transportation sector. Speaking at a felicitation program in Kathmandu honoring the newly elected executive committee of the Federation of Nepalese National Transport Entrepreneurs (FNNTE), outgoing President Bijay Bahadur Swanr noted that despite drawing investments exceeding Rs 1,300 billion and employing over 500,000 individuals, transport operators must transition from being perceived merely as vehicle owners to recognized professional entrepreneurs. The newly elected Federation President, Punya Prasad (Saroj) Sitaula, committed to modernizing the sector following the federation's Seventh General Convention in Pokhara. Sitaula pledged that the new leadership will collaborate closely with the government to implement an IT-based transport network, enforce discipline, and proactively reduce road accidents across the nation.
