Nepal Urges Drivers to Renew Licenses for 10-Year Validity

The Department of Transport Management has urged drivers with licenses expiring within a year to renew them, allowing them to receive a new license valid for 10 years under the revised system.

Nepal Urges Drivers to Renew Licenses for 10-Year Validity

Nepal's Department of Transport Management (DoTM) has called on drivers whose licenses are set to expire within the next year to renew them under a new provision that grants a 10-year validity period. The department said licenses with less than one year remaining before expiry are no longer being printed, making renewal the most practical option for obtaining a new license with extended validity. The department also announced that it has completed the long-delayed printing of driving licenses that had been pending for the past four years. According to the DoTM, all applications submitted up to the end of Asar have now been printed, and more than 2.747 million licenses had been dispatched to transport offices across the country for distribution as of Shrawan 7. Officials said the printing process accelerated after a new agreement was signed with the Security Printing Centre, helping clear the backlog and improve service delivery.
