Banks Must Function as Chariots for the Public, Says Finance Minister Wagle at Nepal Bank’s Hetauda Event

Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Wagle has underscored the core public-welfare mandate of financial institutions, stating that banks should essentially serve as "chariots" for Nepali citizens. Speaking at the inauguration ceremony of Nepal Bank Limited’s newly constructed Bagmati Provincial and City Office building in Hetauda, Minister Wagle highlighted the institution's historic eight-decade legacy. Referencing the original preamble of the Banking Act of 1994 BS, he commended the nation's pioneer bank for successfully bridging its historic Rana-era founding principles with cutting-edge technological modernization. Addressing localized challenges, Wagle also mentioned that the federal government is actively seeking solutions to address ongoing infrastructure and road expansion gridlocks in Hetauda’s central market area, a matter that is currently sub-judice in court.
