Sanima Bank, Standard Chartered Launch Nepal's First Real-Time API-Based INR Payment Solution

Sanima Bank Limited and Standard Chartered Bank have jointly launched Nepal's first real-time application programming interface (API)-based payment solution for outward Indian Rupee (INR) transactions, marking a significant milestone in the country's cross-border payment infrastructure. The new integration enables fully automated, real-time processing of INR payments from Nepal to India, replacing the conventional manual and batch-based transaction system. According to the two banks, the solution is designed to enhance transaction speed, improve operational efficiency, increase transparency, and provide customers with a faster and more seamless payment experience. Building on the initiative, Sanima Bank and Standard Chartered Bank also plan to introduce API-based US dollar (USD) payment services, further expanding digital cross-border banking capabilities. Officials from both institutions said the partnership represents a major step toward modernizing Nepal's international payment ecosystem while strengthening financial connectivity between Nepal and global markets.
